Its more of a 'hobble'...

I won't go so far as to say i can 'walk' again...but i *can* get from point A to B, on my feet, without the use of crutches.

I had my first Physical Therapy session for my calf strain today. It had been feeling considerably better for the last few days, and i was feeling bummed that getting around was requiring 10x the effort it ordinarily would. None of the exercises Chris had me do today caused it to hurt, though i could tell it needed stretched out. He also adjusted my boot such that i can now walk in it - though like I said, i wouldn't exactly call it walkin. The height differential combined with the stiff muscles make it considerably awkward.

This development makes me feel a bit better though.

Let's see here.... *runs through mental checklist of previous injuries throughout his life* -broken collarbone -broken arm -broken legs -broken foot -broken wrist -countless broken fingers and toes -fractured ribs -dislocated hip -bone chip on ball & socket joint of said hip caused by re-locating it myself -severed artery -severed tendons -torn ligaments -butterfly fracture (basically a spiderweb) on leg. Three or four more ft-lbs of pressure and it would have been shattered completely!!! -OVER 250 stitches in various places It feels like I'm missing some things.... Yeah. I had a LOT of fun as a kid. I basically spent my entire childhood in the emergency room. I was there so often that my parents, God Bless Them, were investigated by DCFS on three separate occasions because the doctors thought I was being abused. I had a LOT of fun as a kid. A little too much. That's why I can't sit 'Indian style' for more than a few minutes. That's why I have arthritis at 31. That's why I have to put on my RoboCop Gear to play a simple game of touch football or basketball if I want to be able to walk the following day. Shocking, isn't it? Or maybe not so much, after having met me.... Trust me brother, you'll be just fine! Glad to hear it's doing better though!

I just remembered one that I forgot. -Gave myself 6 stitches once. I was 15. No one was home and I cut my knee up pretty badly. I'd had more than enough stitches by this point in my life, so I knew hot to do it. As I said, no one was me to give me a lift, so I did it myself. A few days later my mom see them. "What the HELL is that?" 'Stitches.' "When did you get those?" [insert date here] "Who took you to the hospital?" 'No one. I did it.' "YOU did it? Come on, we're going to the hospital!" 'Why? It's already done!' So after waiting for about 4 hours (it wasn't exactly an emergency) the doctor takes a look at it. "You did this, huh?" 'Yup.' "You keeping it clean?" 'Yup.' "I would have used 8 instead of 6. Good job." My mother didn't say a single word to me on the ride home. =) Oh, and I once talked a nurse into letting me take my own pint of blood at a donation, so I know how to do that too. ;) I wonder what else I missed???

Cameron, that story is *awesome*. Wow, man. I guess you do have it down. I haven't had nearly that much stuff. Fractured my arm once, and got 4 stitches in my forehead. That's about it unless you count a surgery to drain a cyst that happened when i was 2 i think. ~PS

Like I said, you'll be just fine brother! ;) Glad to hear it's doing better though!

Um... I had my wisdom teeth removed?

I wonder what else I missed??? -Cameron Judging from that list, I'd say you probably missed the trampoline when you were jumping off your roof. I'm sure it was perfectly safe and worked in rehearsal.

Shadow says...

Did I tell you about that time?!? And in point of fact, I HIT THE CENTER of the trampoline! I'm just a tad bit heavier than I was at 8, that's all.... That was the butterfly fracture that almost shattered my leg. I got a shiny titanium screw in my ankle thanks to that one!

That is a fantastic story shadow!! "I would have used 8 instead of 6... good job." HA! I have never had a major bone broken in my life.... except my skull... on three different occasions.... I guess that might explain a few things.
